Religious tradition says that John the Evangelist seemed to be considered one of Christ's initial 12 apostles; the only person to live into later years; and not slaughtered for his religious beliefs. John the Evangelist is associated with Ephesus, exactly where he is said to have lived and been buried. Many believe that following a short life he was exiled to (c.a. 95) Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation.
